Apologies: none

Chairman’s report – Rob Briggs

As Chairman of the West Country RC Truckers Club I would like to welcome you all to this Annual General Meeting.

Well what a good year it has been, in my opinion. We have had a few additions to the layout and also the Catering area. I would like to thank Lin & Mandie for all their hard work every meeting in the food area.

We have purchased  new tablecloths, including one with our impressive log on it, for use at meets and potentially at shows as well. We have also purchased a nice grill to cook the sausages for the baps. The ‘Tuck Shop’ snacks are also proving very popular, but the biscuits more so.

A number of additions to the layout have been made by Allan, Stu and John Baylis. These additions are as follows:

  • Street lights
  • Garage Shop (built by John Baylis, stocked by Allan Shillitto
  • Snack Bar (third party purchase)
  • Distribution Warehouse (Allan Shillitto)
  • Tyre Bay (Stu, with stickers by Ian Moulsdale)
  • Silo in quarry (third party purchase)
  • Building for quarry (Allan Shillitto)
  • Crossroads (Allan Shillitto)
  • Zebra Crossing (Allan Shillitto)
  • Traffic Lights (Allan Shillitto)

We also purchased a flag and flagpole, and some merchandise for our Show attendances.

So I’m sure you will agree quite an impressive list.

Our 2024 show season, was eventful to say the least and I congratulate Paul, Stu and Allan for getting things done in the face of adversity.

We had to contend with a deluge of rain at Devon, the marquee being erected late, only to find it was then too small! At Cornwall to arrive to no marquee at all, but with help from of friends at Hart’s Haulage, and Derrick and Jack Hill, it all came together in the end.

We have also been invited to both Devon and Cornwall Truck Show again in 2025.

We were saddened when the Best of the Best Show was postponed by the organisers as we had put a lot of work into this event and know a lot of the nominees had spent considerable time and effort in preparing their entries. We hope the event does indeed go ahead in 2025 as the organisers have indicated.

Now on to the actual running of the club, this is a reminder as to who does what;

Rob Briggs – Chairman, Membership Secretary, and Logistics.

Paul Evans – Vice Chairman, Club Secretary, and Company Secretary

Nicola Loud – Treasurer

Allan Shillitto – Construction and Layout planning, website maintenance

Stu Loud – Health & Safety, Welfare, Layout Manager, and Yard Allocation

We also new three new Committee Members;

Darren (Daz) Knight – Set up and Tear down Team Lead

Duncan Perryman

Aaron Price

We welcome the input and suggestions they are bringing to the club.

Paul Evans and I are happy to seek re-election to our roles for the next two-year period.

I would like to thank all those who help to set up and tear down the layout every month and at shows your assistance I greatly appreciated.

I would like to thank you all for all your support since we started the Club, and in particular over the last year and we hope we continue being one of the best RC Truck Clubs in the UK.

Don’t forget, it’s your Club and we hope you will continue to enjoy the monthly meets and shows both to run your trucks and socialise with friends.

Please don’t forget our website and Facebook page has further information and updates about the Club.

Thanks again

Rob

Treasurer’s Report

Welcome to this year’s AGM. I took over as Treasurer in February 2024, when Allan Shillitto stepped down.

I’m a familiar face on the Front Desk taking your Membership and meet fees.

To the Year end 31st August 2023, our incomes slightly dipped, but remain healthy, and Member numbers and driver visits both remain strong.

Due to changes in HMR legislation the Club incurred a small payment for Corporation Tax to the Year End 2023, due to the surplus of funds the Club had.

We aim to re-invest Club funds in the development of the Club and layout, but for financial prudence will retain a small surplus.

Increased Membership fees for 2024/25 will ensure we have ongoing funds for development, after covering every increasing costs.

The Club is run for the benefit of our members, as a ‘not for profit’  organisation. The Director’s of the Club receive no reimbursement or Dividends from the Club.

The Club made one Charitable donation in the year ending 31st August 2023.
